Learning Objectives

• Map rows and columns of rectangular data to elements of a graphic
• Describe and/or draw a desired plot based to answer a research question
• Describe charts using the grammar of graphics
• Create layered graphics that highlight multiple aspects of the data
• Evaluate existing charts and develop new versions that improve accessibility and readability
• Identify the appropriate kind of plot (geometries and aesthetics) given types of variables.
